Whether you are looking for antiques to furnish your home or cuisine to fill up your tummy, King St. and Market St. in Charleston, SC are full of shops and restaurants to keep you busy all day long without having to drive around.


Located in the heart of Charleston’s historical district, King St. offers Tea Party Walking Tours Monday thru Saturday, 2-4pm. This enchanting historic tour of Charleston starts at the Kings Courtyard Inn, 198 King Street, twenty-five dollars each. If a walking tour doesn’t appeal to you there are dozens of antique shops on King St. including George C. Birlant & Co at 191 King St, one of the largest and oldest antiques shops in the southeast. Or Croghan's Jewel Box, located in an 18th century single house in its original 308 King St. address.


After all that walking and shopping wears you out. Stop by the King Street Grille located at 304 King St. Having over 36 televisions with a variety of athletic activities showing nightly, you’re sure to find something to watch. With decent prices and wonderful food this stop will surely make any sports fan smile.


If King St. isn’t your style, try heading over to the more upscale Market St. Peninsula Grill is located at 112 Market St. With velvet walls and antique lamps at every table this restaurant is top notch. Chef Robert Carter makes the most elegant and delicious desserts. Reservations are recommended, and attire is business casual.


Built in 1841, The Old City Market displays over 100 vendors in four open air buildings selling a wide variety of quality products. They open at 10am daily and close at dark. If you are looking for a carriage tour of downtown Charleston, many start and end at the Old City Market.
