MAY 9th

Neil Simon’s side-splitting farce “Rumors” opens May 9 at Pensacola Little Theatre.
Gossip, lies, and a smoking gun – what more do you need for a party?
America's premier comic playwright, Neil Simon, delights audiences with his out and out funny offering, “Rumors.” The comedy opens May 9 at Pensacola Little Theatre for a two-weekend run.
In the play, four couples are at the townhouse of a deputy New York City mayor and his wife to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. The party never begins because the host has shot himself in the head (it's only a flesh wound) and his wife is missing. His lawyer's cover up gets progressively more difficult to sustain as the other guests arrive and nobody can remember who has been told what about whom. Doors slam and hilarity abounds as the couples get more and more crazed.
“Rumors” is a Curtain Call production, produced and starring Valerie Russenberger. The talented cast includes many veterans of Pensacola Little Theatre and Curtain Call productions, including Scott Haring, Carol Kahn Parker, Kevin P. Kern, Donna Quinn, Bob Lamar, Laura Sebastian, James Poule, Larry Hines and LaVetta Fowler.
“Rumors” begins at 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays and at 2:30pm on Sundays. Ticket prices are $22, $18, or $15 each. A $2 discount per ticket is available for senior citizens, students, and active-duty military. Group discounts are also available for parties of ten or more. Purchase tickets at our Box Office or by phone at 850.432.2042.
All performances of Neil Simon’s “Rumors” are in the Valerie J. Russenberger Theatre inside the Pensacola Cultural Center, 400 South Jefferson Street, downtown. This production contains strong language and adult situations.

"Looking for Normal"
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 24-26, at 8:00pm
Friday and Saturday, May 2-3, at 8:00pm
Sunday, May 4, at 2:30pm
PLT presents family drama about a husband and father’s decision to have a sex change.
PENSACOLA, Fla. – In April 2008, Studio 400 presents a touching and thoughtful drama about a family going through major life changes.
In “Looking for Normal”, husband Roy announces to his wife that he is a woman trapped in a man’s body, and he wants to have a sex change operation. The play explores the complexities of marriage and family, and deconstructs the very notion of love.
Director Gail Ready and her cast are excited to bring PLT a drama that tackles such weighty issues. Playing Roy is Paxton McCaghren, seen in “Sordid Lives: A Second Helping” at PLT last fall. Daphne Hicks plays his daughter Patty Ann, and Josh Brogan is his son Wayne.
Brogan calls the play “a quick and witty show that takes on controversial subjects in a tasteful manner. Parts of the script made me laugh, parts made me squirm.”
Roy’s wife Irma is portrayed by actress Mary Steele, last seen in the Studio 400 special presentation of “The Exonerated.” Steele says “Looking for Normal” is ultimately about how people deal with dramatic and emotional changes that uproot their lives. At the same time Irma is facing the onset of menopause and her daughter’s transition into womanhood, she also has the “harsh task of either accepting or denying the reality of her husband's decision.” Steel says, “the true journey for all of the people in this play is how they come to terms with what life has presented them.”
The cast also includes Jeremy Hosbein, Frank Lehman, Sandi Neely-Knechtel, Tim Chaney, and Sheryse Wilhelm.
Tickets are $12 for café seating and $8 for general admission and can be purchased at the Box Office or by phone at 850-432-2042. The Box Office is open 10am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to curtain on performance dates. This production contains adult language and mature subject matter.
PLT's Studio 400 Series is sponsored by Bank of Pensacola. Media support is provided by AT&T's Real Yellow Pages and the Independent News Weekly.
